Two churches in one!
We are two churches sharing one space. Usually when this happens, people meet at different times or days. We do not. We are all at church together, worshiping a bit differently, but following Jesus together, and supporting one another along the way.
Worship for both of us is a time of praising God, seeking His will, and hearing His word. It is a time for the body of Christ to come together as one in Jesus' name.
Charlottesville Church of the Brethren has Sunday School at 10:00 am, followed by Worship at 11:00 AM on Sundays. Come for one or both! Our services are simple, singing, prayer and sharing, and a topical sermon.
Koinonia Christian Church starts their worship at 9:30 am. They follow a similar pattern, singing, followed by prayer and sharing, and a topical lesson by one of their pastors. They then have Sunday School at 11:00 AM.
We are both in the building at the same time. We love and pray for one another.
Every Sunday, at around 12:00, we have a pot-luck fellowship meal. All are welcomed, and this is where real fellowship happens.
A heart filled with love has no room for hate.

Primary Goal
Our goal is to grow disciples, creating a strong body of believers that can impact the lives of others with the love of God. Our focus is on KNOWING and EXPERIENCING God, through prayer, Bible Study, Community, Spiritual Discipline, and Service.
We believe God desires a relationship with each of us in his creation. We are all image bearers of our Creator, and as such, deserving of love and care.

Traditional Peace Church
Many people ask what Brethren believe. We are known historically as the peace church, as Brethren were instrumental in creating the role of conscientious objector, as well as non-violent and alternative service Brethren Volunteer Service, and Disaster Relief Ministries. We were original members of World Church Service, and founded On Earth Peace. We believe God's teaching leads us to be involved in His creation in peaceful, nonviolent ways.
That looks different for different congregations. You may not find us protesting and carrying signs, but you will find us feeding the hungry, clothing those in need, helping those outcast by society, and otherwise actively living Jesus command to his disciples in Matthew 25: 40: "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me."

No creed but the Bible
"A creed is a summary of principles or opinions that are professed or adhered to".
The oldest creed known is the Apostles creed, which can be dated in rudimentary form to 150 years after the time of Christ. The Nicene creed was more detailed and dates to 325 ce. After that, the number of creeds exploded. People lost their lives for reciting the "wrong" creed. The Brethren were founded in the very early 1700s, at the tail end of the German 100 years war. So we decided: NO CREED. We would study the Bible together. We would figure out what it means, together, and we would live out our faith, together.

We believe that God is more interested in how we are loving our neighbors, and in growing us spiritually and emotionally than in anything this world might consider fancy. If you are looking to experience fellowship with other believers, if you are seeking to know God more deeply, if you need help getting through this complicated life, you may have found a home.
